Kroon Transport Alblasserdam B.V. is an internationally operating company from Alblasserdam that has been operating as an independent subsidiary of MAAT since July 2014. Kroon Transport was established 70 years ago and specialises in groupage and distribution of pallet shipments from and to the Benelux and Germany. Kroon’s strength lies in establishing close partnerships. Short lines between the customer, planning and our drivers enable us to come up with good solutions quickly.
Groupage & distribution specialist
Kroon Transport’s distribution centre is fully geared to efficient unloading, sorting, planning, loading and distribution of high volume shipments to various customers.
Groupage is the gathering of pallets and packages with various destinations for different customers. These pallets and packages are unloaded and sorted in our distribution centre in Alblasserdam in a continuous flow. Our planners draw up a distribution schedule for the distribution of these pallets and packages on a daily basis. When the trip schedules are complete, our logistics workers load the pallets and packages and our drivers deliver them. Throughout the years, we have perfected the processes of gathering, sorting, combining and distributing shipments. This allows us to work efficiently, be flexible and very competitive. Direct dispatch, without transhipment, is also possible.
National & international transport
Kroon Transport operates nationally and internationally. We have been driving throughout the Benelux and Germany for 70 years. We know exactly where the bottlenecks lie and what the shortest routes are.
Our groupage and distribution activities are performed with our own drivers and equipment in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. We can also cater for shipments outside the specified countries in cooperation with a reliable transport company from our network.
Cross docking, warehousing and storing
Kroon Transport also offers cross docking, warehousing and storage services. Cross docking is similar to groupage, the difference being that we do not store shipments, but sort and load them for immediate delivery.
We perform many cross docking activities at our location in Alblasserdam daily. This method entails unloading pallets and packages in our distribution centre. The goods are not stored, but sorted immediately and loaded for delivery to our client’s customer the next day.
Our indoor storage capacity in Alblasserdam caters for short- or long-term storage of goods. Among other things, this storage location is equipped with overhead cranes. We also have outdoor storage capacity.
Personnel & equipment
Kroon Transport works with the best people and the best equipment. Our Dutch drivers have all the necessary certificates and our vehicles meet the highest safety and environmental requirements.
A company is as good as the people working there. That is why we work with well-trained distribution drivers with various certificates for forklifts, ADR (hazardous substances) and SSC (safety), etc. Kroon Transport has a modern fleet with 26 tractor units and 29 trailer units. We transport all shipments in closed trailers or curtain-sided vehicles. Many of our vehicles are equipped with a lifting roof for transporting volume shipments.
